BHRS Program

Touch-Stone Solutions has a unique history with children who have intellectual disabilities and their families. We have a specialized license to provide community-based behavioral health services to children diagnosed with mental health disorders and mental retardation. Children with this dual diagnosis have a unique set of challenges in life and our Behavioral Health staff is specially trained and experienced in helping with these difficulties.

Our BHRS Program is a comprehensive home, school and community based program designed to provide therapeutic services for children and families living with intellectual disabilities and behavioral and/or emotional issues. Services are person-centered, family oriented, community based, and stress a Team approach to service delivery. The Team encompasses Touch-Stone Solutions staff, other professionals, agencies, and resources that come together with the client and their family to develop a comprehensive plan of care and services. This Team then addresses individually defined goals and outcomes that guide the services provided. The Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services Program is guided by, believes in, and practices the Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) principles. Services are provided in a child's natural environment to enhance the opportunity to remain in their community and to be sustained within their family.

Services:
A comprehensive array of treatment options are provided with the ongoing approval of Managed Care, funded by Medical Assistance, and medically indicated for individuals with a primary mental health disorder and a diagnosis of mental retardation. Services are intended to sustain the client in the community and in their home while affording them opportunities to overcome their challenges, improve their coping skills, build on their strengths and find success. Services are provided in the least restrictive and intrusive manner possible with the support and participation of the client and their family. The array of services in most instances includes:

  • Behavioral Specialist Consultation (BSC): Agency based professional staff whose primary responsibility is to develop and design behavioral interventions subsequent to the details of the psychological assessment. These behavioral plans and related interventions must be goal and outcome oriented with emphasis on being person-centered, family focused, and community based. They provide support and guidance to therapeutic staff support, primary caregivers, parents, other providers, and school personnel when applicable. They not only design interventions but also monitor and chart progress toward reshaping identified behavioral challenges.

  • Mobile Therapy (MT): Agency based professional staff whose major role is to work closely with the client, parents, family and/or primary caregiver to guide the treatment process. Their basic goal is to affect changes in the challenging behaviors that the client presents by promoting new alternatives, improved self sufficiency, and resolution to related family concerns

  • Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS): Agency based staff whose primary responsibility is to work closely with the client in a one-to-one relationship providing interventions, supports, and guidance. They provide an array of interventions in support of the outcomes and goals defined by the behavioral specialist consultant and/or the mobile therapist. These services may be provided in the home, in school, and in the community or in a predetermined combination of locations. Services emphasize positive behavioral reinforcement, emotional supports, time structuring activities, and time-out strategies or other psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the child's treatment plan and crisis intervention techniques.

Criteria for service eligibility can be defined and clarified by contacting either Touch-Stone Solutions' BHRS Program directly or through your County Human Services Office.
